Should I remove earwax?

Image
Earwax is a normal build-up of dead cells, hair, foreign material such as dust, and natural wax which forms a protective coating on the skin in the ear canal. The quantity of earwax produced varies greatly from person to person. A doctor or nurse can look into the ear canal and confirm a plug of earwax has formed. A plug of earwax is not a serious problem, more a nuisance. You only need to remove earwax if it is causing symptoms such as dulled hearing or when fitting a hearing aid. Appointments for ear syringing due to earwax build-up are available with our practice nurses but often this is an issue that can be dealt with at home. If you do need an appointment please use eardrops or drops of almond, olive or baby oil into the affected ear up to 7 days prior to syringing. This will soften the wax and make it easier to remove . As an alternative to making an appointment to see one of our clinicians, you may wish to consider managing the problem yourself at home. More inform...

Ear wax. We all have it, but it’s something we don’t like to talk about. It’s naturally produced by your ear s and is mainly comprised of; old skin cells, dust and debris and oily secretions from modified sweat glands. Ear wax actually does several very useful things. It protects the skin in the ear canal, acts as a defence against dirt and bacteria, and helps to clean and lubricate the ear. You wash your hair often enough without over washing it and you even scrub under your fingernails. However, there may be one part of you that isn’t quite as spotlessly clean as you may think… and that’s your ears. Although many of us regularly clean our ears with a cotton swab, many hearing health care provider...

The average cost to upgrade or repair an electrical service panel is between $850 and $1,100 for 100 amps, and $1,300 to $1,600 for a 200-amp circuit breaker. If your wiring professional determines that you need a new box, the price will be around $1,200 to $2,500. Electricity is one of the most important things we use in our homes. It operates lights, heating, and cooling and charges those essential cell phones. Understanding how a home’s electrical system works is essential if something goes wrong or if the homeowner wishes to make upgrades.
